It’s been the talk of the town for a number of weeks now. Ever since Scott Brown revealed he was leaving Celtic to join Aberdeen, speculation has been rife that Hoops outcast, Leigh Griffiths, could be next in line to join the Pittodrie side.

Griffiths has had limited first team action this season and after difficult off field battles, has struggled to find himself anywhere near the reckoning as he finds himself behind Klimala and Ajeti in the pecking order.

Former Scotland boss, Alex McLeish speaking to The Football Insider, backs Griffiths to leave the Hoops in favour of Aberdeen and reveals he has spoken to Griffiths over a few phone calls, “I’ve spoken to Leigh once or twice. I’ve seen him in the Scotland setup and also had a couple of phone calls with him.

“I would have thought at his age he may relish a new start. Okay, maybe it’s the final start but what a way to make that final start than with your ex-teammate and captain Scott Brown.

Will Celtic regret letting Scott Brown go?

YES

YES

NO

NO

“He’s been linked to Aberdeen and Aberdeen have lacked an out-and-out goalscorer, a poacher in the box. A guy who moves into positions that other strikers would go: ‘How can he do that and I can’t do that?’

“For me, if I’m reading the newspapers and I hear that link, then I’m saying: ‘Yeah, I’m behind that one.’”

Should the Dons capture Griffiths alongside Brown, then this would be a coup for the Pittodrie side as they aim to split the Glasgow giants in the league.

And they could come one step closer should they manager to prise Griffiths from Celtic.
