Many people in the media have slated Celtic for not tying up Jack Hendry to a more secure deal. Many have slated Celtic for allowing a clause to be inserted into his Oostende loan deal where he could potentially leave for less than £2m.

Today, in Scotland’s opener for the Euro’s, Hendry just vindicated Celtic from any wrong doing as he incredibly sold the jerseys to allow the Czech Republic to secure a 2-0 lead when the Scots where looking on the up and more likely to equalise.

Hendry picked the ball up around 30 yards out and inexplicably tried to fire a shot on the Czech Republic goal.

The shot was blocked and picked up by the Czech striker, Patrik Schick and he coolly lobbed David Marshall from almost the half way line. Yes, the keeper must share his part of the blame but he should not have been put in that position in the first place.

Is Ange Postecoglou the man for the Celtic job?

YES

YES

NO

NO

It is that kind of decision that proves to me that Hendry is simply not capable of playing at the top level of the game.

Hendry thrives playing for the underdogs . Dundee, Oostende and Scotland are all sides that are not expected to win every match.

When the pressure is off, Hendry looked great in a Scotland shirt. Calm and assured against the Dutch with no crowds,  but when it really matters, I mean REALLY matters, his decision today to shoot leaving his back line exposed, he was caught out of position, shows that he doesn’t have what it takes to survive at Celtic Park.

Celtic would do well to thank Hendry for his time and take the £2m from Oostende and run.
