“Lazy” – Former Socceroo stinging attack at Scottish media Postecoglou cover

|

This site has been probably one of the lone voices out there that has been outspoken about incoming Celtic manager, Ange Postecoglou’s treatment by the Scottish media.

The unbalanced and ignorance in the reporting of this appointment, and let’s face it the comments from some Celtic fans, has been nothing short of shameful.

I have already re-iterated that I was not sure about him because, like most people, I hadn’t heard of Ange, but I, like the media should have done, have researched his history in the game and his accomplishments too.

Now, spare me the reasoning that he hasn’t managed a big club or he hasn’t managed in Europe, because for me, that was the type of ignorant thinking that met the appointment of Wim Jansen before he went to reach immortality in the eyes of Celtic fans.

All I am saying is look at this appointment objectively and once you have the information at hand, then make an informed comment or judgement.

One pundit and former right hand man of Postecoglou, Craig Moore, took a swipe at the media coverage and branded their coverage of the former Australian national manager on The Go Radio Football Show,  “It’s probably a little bit lazy in certain parts of the of the media because you look and you dig a little bit deeper into his profile, wherever he’s been he’s won trophies. He won the, the Asian Cup in Australia. He was voted in 2015 Asian Coach of the Year.

“He went to the J League with a mid table team, second season they won the title. He’s got a good record and in terms of what he knows about Scottish football that’s challenge for anybody that hasn’t been here or managed here before.

Is Ange Postecoglou the man for the Celtic job?

YES

YES

NO

NO

“That’s a challenge, that’s a risk with anybody but he was national team coach. So he was monitoring Jackson Irvine when he’s playing at Ross County, Tommy Rogic back at Celtic.

“Look he knows enough about Scottish football, and the size of Celtic Football Club, and the Australian mentality in world football is a lot of the times we’re actually seen as the underdog and he loves to prove people wrong.”

If the deal gets over the line, it will be interesting to see how the players cope with the personality and coaching style of Postecoglou as it looks like he would never have accepted the standards delivered by the team last season.
