Lennon’s ominous warning for unpredictable striker

|

After Celtic’s 4-0 rout of Kilmarnock at Rugby Park last night, boss, Neil Lennon, has spoken of his desire to give Albian Ajeti a run of game in the team now that the Swiss striker has put his fitness and injury worries behind him.

Ajeti opened up on his injury problems in his post match interview last night and Lennon reckons now is the time to give the hitman a run of games alongside talisman, Odsonne Edouard.  This spells trouble for current first pick striker, Leigh Griffiths, who seemed to be the preferred choice to partner Edouard, but Lennon says Ajeti now deserves a run in the team, “Hopefully he’ll get a run of games now.

“He looked very good, very strong tonight. He complemented Odsonne very well.

“It’s a good night’s work for him.”

Lennon did go on to question Ajeti’s work rate at the start of the campaign, as Vital Celtic has report on previously, but hte Celtic boss says all that is behind him now and he just needs to look forward now, “He was out of football for a long time last year.

“He then had fitness problems coming in. He gets in the team then had a couple of hamstring injuries when he was away with Switzerland.

“He pulled his hamstring again in maybe November time.

“It’s been a slow burner for him. His work ethic hasn’t been good enough. He knows that and he’s changed that now.

And he’s rewarded himself and obviously us and the team with a goal and a very good performance.

“We want to get more out of him now because we think he’s a very good striker.

“He’s got to get his Celtic career really up and running now and that’s a good start for him.”
