As the dust settles on Olivier Ntchams loan move to Marseille, Celtic gaffer, Neil Lennon, has inadvertently made an astonishing confession when explaining the French midfielders dramatic dip in form and lack of enthusiasm for puling on the Hoops.

Ntcham has been disillusioned with his recent time in Scotland and Lennon revealed is wasn’t the club Ntcham was unhappy with, it was the Scottish game and the need for a new challenge that spurred him on to look for a move.

Speaking to BBC Sportsound, Lennon revealed, “It’s not the club that he’s unhappy with. I think it’s just his life in Glasgow.

“He was a bit fed up and indifferent about the Scottish game, and I think he wanted a new challenge, like a few of them have maintained since the start of the season.

“It’s a difficult thing to claw them back in. He’s a talented player.

“This time last year he was absolutely superb, between January and March. Between then and the lockdown, something got disconnected with Olivier; he couldn’t get that desire or passion back to play.”

The news that Lennon has been aware that players have been unhappy since the start of the season, this season of all seasons, will leave Celtic fans wondering why the players were not allowed to move on, especially with what was a stake this season.

Inaction has led to unhappiness and this has clearly affected the players performances on the pitch and the demise of the Celtic supporters dreams of winning their tenth title in a row.
