The Sydney Super Cup.

Whoever rubber stamped that move in Celtic needs to have their values shook.

The reaction to the tour has been met with incredulity by both sets of fans for very different reasons.

The tour should have been an homage to Ange Postecoglou. Celebrate the Aussie gaffers contribution to the club this season with, hopefully, the league title in the bag.

Now it has become a side show. Ange is no longer at the front and centre of the tour and that has left a sour taste in many Celtic fans mouths.

ROAR is a huge Australian blogger site where many writers collaborate to share their news and views about their team or sport and the discussion surrounding The Super Cup has reached the site.

Mike Meehall Wood is Editor of the site and a self confessed Celtic fan and he gave his view on the planned tournament and how it was received in Scotland, “While an Ange Postecoglou return was greeted warmly in Sydney, the idea of Scotland’s biggest rivalry being played out for laughs on the other side of the world went down like a cup of cold sick in Glasgow.”

“If you’re a Celtic fan – for full disclosure, I am – it’s a real kick in the teeth.

“It proves that the powers-that-be at the club are just as happy as ever to leverage our passion for profit, using fans to sell a fixture that almost all fans hate.”

And if you want a real gauge of how this has went down in Australia, take a look at some of the comments:

Brian: “Shameless cash grab. The youth/reserve squads will be A League level anyway. I’d rather Arnie organized a friendly with another nation that won’t qualify like the Portugal v Italy loser, or even play Scotland themselves.”

AMD: “Why would anybody, anywhere – with the possible exception of Glasgow – want to watch Celtic and Rangers attempt to play football?

“I wasn’t shocked by the announcement – these sort of gimmicks have been going on in Australian football for 50-odd years.”

A proper way to welcome Ange back to his homeland would be to have a 4 team tournament with two clubs from AUSTRALIA, one club from JAPAN and CELTIC.
