You probably all remember me writing yesterday about how Reo Hatate was tipped by Frank McAvennie as becoming one of Celtic’s most important players this season.

At the time I said there was no argument from me and I also listed several players that will be extremely important for us in this upcoming season.

The great thing about this team that Ange Postecoglou has assembled is that there is talent all over the pitch.

I can honestly say that there is not one weak area of the team.

So that brings me to this.

If you had to pick one player who you think will go for mega money in the coming years you would say it would have to be Jota right?

Not according to Mark Guidi.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, the experienced journalist named the man who he thinks will become a ‘multimillion pound talent’, “The guy who really impressed me, and I think he could actually in terms of transfer value and importance to Celtic, he could emerge as the most important player this season.

“Even ahead of Kyogo and different guys and Jota, is Matt O’Riley.

“I’m starting to really get it now.

“I’m not saying Postecoglou wasn’t bothered about losing Tom Rogic.

“But you now look at O’Riley who’s had that six months bedding in period, albeit it, he made that fantastic impact right away.

“O’Riley looks to me as if he could emerge as a multimillion pound talent. I mean, proper.”

O’Riley showed in the second half of last season that he could easily step into the shoes of Tom Rogic.

Quick-footed, has an eye for a pass and knows where to find the back of the net, the Danish u21 international has all the hallmarks of becoming one of Celtic’s most important players in years to come.

Why the hell are you talking about multi-million pound talent?
Our interest should be the here and now and the fact that these great players are part of the squad and hopefully will be for a good while. You can’t criticise the board as money men when you talk that way yourself. It would also be a nice touch to spell O’Riley’s name properly. I am interested in what qualities these players have for the club, not how much we can make from them. Of course they may leave in the future for big money, but the important thing is NOW.

Apologies Paddy – it is Mark Guidi who needs to spell O’Riley’s name properly and I appreciate that you are commenting on his words. However, I want to enjoy these players playing for Celtic now, not concentrate on how much they will go for later.
