There seems to be a lot of these stories going about today. And it does make sense.

Celtic have an injury crisis. The transfer window is closed. The only other option is what decent free agents are available that could make a material difference to the first team or even offer support on the bench?

With Celtic having major issues at the left back position, football site Transfer Tavern, picked up on a story of free agents that are available and former Wales left back Neil Taylor’s name has cropped up as a player tipped for a possible move.

Taylor is a 32 year old left back with vast international and English Premier League experience.

With forty three caps for the Welsh, Taylor played every single minute for The Dragons as they reached the Euro 2016 semi final stages.

His career started at Manchester City at the tender age of 15, but he quickly moved to Wrexham were he eventually signed professionally and went on to make 75 appearances for the club.

In 2010, he then moved to Swansea City where he helped The Swans gain promotion to the English Premier League and subsequently their highest ever finish of ninth in the English top flight.

After 160 run outs and seven years later, Taylor made his £5m move to Aston Villa where he spent four seasons, making 89 appearances for The Villains.

In 2012, Taylor also represented the Team GB football side in the Olympics  making 5 appearances as he helped the side make the knockout stages of the competition.

Taylor has been without a club since the end of Mat this year and the only problem would be his match fitness.

Being away from football for almost six months would require Taylor needing time to get up to match fitness and right now, time is not on Ange Postecoglou’s side.
