It seems with Neil Lennon now in the running for the vacant Sunderland job, you would think that he would leave the past with Celtic alone.

Now I don’t know if this is just me and I’m sure many will let me know in the comments, but his latest interview on Talksport [via The Celtic Way], he seems to take a small dig at Celtic by mentioning how the pandemic affected a lot o

f clubs, “It’s very appealing I think. It has a fantastic fanbase and in a reasonably good position in the league, that would be a job anyone would be interested in.

“But it is so competitive now, the manager’s race to get back in or keep your job.

“There are so many good coaches around. England is the place everyone wants to be. The Premier League is the marquee league.

“It is a tremendous product now, so great to watch. But the pandemic affected a lot of clubs and a bit of normality has come back into it.”

With Sunderland losing yet again yesterday at home, Lennon’s chances of landing the job my well be increased but one thing he has to do is let all the pandemic stuff go.

The former Celtic gaffer has been the subject of criticism by the Celtic fans for his refusal to take any responsibility for his part in the failure to win the clubs tenth title in a row and for using the pandemic as one of the reasons for his teams spectacular collapse.

Time to let it go Neil. Or have I picked him up wrong?

TEN IN A ROW WITH FANS HERE WE GO 🎵 TEN IN A ROW WITH ANGE 🎵 HERE WE GO !
There can be NO DOUBT the pandemic effected EVERYTHING . The reason the we are happy from the other night is that , for over two years we have been advised to not have any human contact , we really were all on pause . It was very frightening times for some family’s, everyone took a blow . LET US ALL CELEBRATE TEN IN A ROW WITH OUR FAMILYS AND FREINDS IN MEMORY OF LOVED ONES WHO CANNOT BE HERE. We never counted the war ” titles” and that past farce should be no different. We should mark it with the *Astrix it deserves . Broony Lennoxtown Brenn, Ronnie Fergus , Peter SHOULD ALL BE WITH ANGE AND OUR SUPPORTING CAST in May to CELEBRATE OUR TITLES , QUADRUPLE TREBLES AND ALL 💚💛C.O.Y.B.A.G.I.G.

    Typo @ Lenny / extown

Think the pandemic Did have an effect on us ,but NL Needs to accept some of the blame ,imo Yes he does ,but he was proved right on certain players that had downed tools ,we all know and knew WHO they were ..Édouard ,Ajer,Christie and Nitcham …plus the loans like JJ KENNY were a joke .

Think you’re probably looking too much into it. He never mentioned Celtic and we’re not the only club or league to be effective by the Covid.

Regardless what peoples thoughts are on Lenny, he was a terrific servant to Celtic and I have no doubt whatsoever he will have Celtic in his heart always.

He was obviously hurt personally at the tail end of his managerial career and it could be argued that on several occasions he was held out to dry, but everything he done, good or bad, he done it with Celtic in mind and wanting to do the right thing. To suggest otherwise isn’t fair and doubt if true.

If he gets the Sunderland job, then good luck to him and I hope he has more success in England this time than he had last time.

Do you have a clue what you are talking about?
You are clearly ignorant and know nothing of the history. You are like bobble head dolls, nodding in agreement to things you hear empty heads say. Sheep!
Why the witch-hunt on Neil Lennon?
In two stints as Celtic manager over six combined seasons, he won five championships, qualified for the group stages of the Champions League, four Scottish cups and three League Cups.
He is the ONLY man in the HISTORY of Scottish football to have won a treble as a player and manager with the same club.
Neil went to work for our club despite real threats on his life for years, a total despicable disregard for his safety by the police, Scottish judiciary and SFA/SPFL.
Even in his last three years, only Pep Guardiola had more success than Neil!
He was targetted because of his affiliations and race. You should know better!
Neil Lennon is and will always be a true Celtic legend.

  • JamsieBhoy says:

People conveniently forget Neil Lennon outted players that wanted away. He got let down after a great result against top Italian opponents, by players that downed tools. He also won 5 of the 9 in a row titles. The Christie’s and Ayjers can show they’re children the Medals they won at Celtic, will they ever win another Medal ?

  • David says:

I’d say you’ve picked him up wrong there. Seems a fairly fair observation and nothing to do with celtic.

  • Paddy Sinat says:

Happy to be proved wrong here troops. HH

  • Joe Donnelly says:

This will always be a difficult one for me, I loved NL but it went bad very quickly. Why did these players down tools? Something was wrong at the club for sure and I think Lenny may have been part of the problem, but not THE problem. He’s given us so much so I’m not going to hold anything against him, fella’s a Celtic legend…… and I’ll fet over last season, one day!! HH🍀
