Celtic Word On The Tweet

“No rest” for Celtic star as loads of fans criticise manager Lennon over league cup line-up

|

Celtic strolled past Partick Thistle in a 5-0 demolition to progress to the Betfred League Cup semi-finals last night but one selection raised concern prior to the match.

Callum McGregor played more games than any other in world football last season – 69, via The Scotsman – and so far this season has started every game except one v Kalju Nomme. This was seen as an ideal opportunity to rest the £20m rated midfielder.

What better than a team sitting bottom of the league below in which to rest one of your key players? Neil Lennon thought otherwise and played McGregor for 62 minutes.

Celtic fans are now beginning to fear that the home-grown hero faces the potential of being burnt out before the season has started in earnest, he is one of Celtic’s most influential players, particularly in linking defence to attack.

They took to twitter to display their frustration at McGregor playing in a game where he really didn’t need to.
