Scott Brown has effectively symbolised everything at Celtic over the last few years, but could his time at Parkhead be coming to an end? Well, according to Sky Sports News, he’s considering an offer to move to Australia at the end of the season in a move that would be the end of an era for Celtic.

You’d expect that if the club that he loves informed him of their desire to renew his contract at Celtic Park, the Celtic legend would commit his future to the club, but in this case – perhaps a departure is best for all parties.

After all, Brown has lost his significance in the Celtic team somewhat this term, with the Hoops finding joy in other options in the heart of the midfield.

Furthermore, when Brown has played, he hasn’t quite looked like his old self. Age is beginning to catch up with him, that much is clear, and his lack of energy has been problematic at points this term.

There is a time and place for a player like Brown. He’s strong and robust, he’s a leader, and he’s a very reliable player, but Celtic appear to be moving on. Rodgers is favouring exciting, young and technical talent, and this has worked out well so far.

Now, of course, Rodgers could tell Brown that he remains a key part of his plans next season, and he’d likely still be able to maintain a big role, and that would be the easy decision from the boss. However, sometimes the best decision isn’t always the easiest, and with the future in mind, maybe it’s time to move on from Broony.
