Many Celtic supporters weren’t happy to see The Green Brigade display a banner in opposition to defender Dedryck Boyata on Sunday.

The fan group unveiled a pre-match message which stated: “Boyata – Not Fit To Wear The Jersey”.

It came after a dramatic few weeks involving the Belgian, his agent and decision makers at the club.

A bid from Fulham for the player was rejected, sparking a series of events that culminated in the player declaring himself unfit for matches against AEK Athens and FK Suduva.

It looked as if he may have played his last ever game for the club, but clear-the-air talks with Brendan Rodgers and captain Scott Brown led to his inclusion in first-team training again and ultimately his participation in Sunday’s match against Hamilton, a match he scored the winning goal in.

The whole situation is fairly messy and even though many fans are unhappy with his actions, many feel some fans went too far on Sunday with the display and booing the 27-year-old.

Greeted warmly by his teammates in celebration of his goal, it seems that for now he is a welcome part of the Celtic squad and hopefully everyone can move on in harmony wherever he ends up playing his football this season.
