Ange rarely gets a transfer signing wrong.

When you think of all the players he has signed, I would say only three haven’t worked out.

Yosuke Ideguchi, Oliver Abildgaard and James McCarthy have all struggled to make any kind of impact in the first team and are, probably, looking at being shipped out in this transfer window.

His strike rate is phenomenal but you can’t get them all correct.

But could Alexandro Bernabei be heading in the direction of one of Ange’s ‘failed’ signings?

The £3.75m signing from Lanus [STV] arrived with an air of excitement but has failed to gain any kind of game time due to the form of Greg Taylor.

Former Celtic full back, Mark Wilson criticised the Argentine’s recent performances for Celtic but does say he needs time to settle into the club.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Wilson said, “I thought he started his Celtic career well.

“I thought he came in and looked lively and I thought he fitted the mould in terms of getting up and down the pitch.

“Defensively he would be a concern for me.

“People just go by him like he wasn’t there. I saw that last week as well.

“In the first half [against Morton], his use of the ball wasn’t good enough. I think he’s got a lot of improvement to do.

“I think he still deserves time. Look at the guy that’s in front of him at left back, for instance [Greg Taylor].

“Kind of written off, people thinking he wasn’t good enough and now he is a stand out at left back, and probably the best in the country.

“So I think he deserves time, but he needs to improve quickly because with Juranovic away and Taylor not fit, then he has to be the man to step up and make the position his own.”

Bernabei has had nowhere near enough game time to make any kind of informed opinion on his Celtic future.

The 22 year old has only appeared thirteen times for the club this season and he has shown flashes of why the club shelled out serious money for him.

He has also shown some weakness in his game that teams are looking to exploit but I am positive that under Ange’s tutelage, the Argentine will come good.

I agree completely since he arrived till last game I’ve never seen anything that makes me believe that he has the credentials to become a regular in the team, when he’s playing and defending I’m a bag of nerves waiting for him to be turned inside out

Left side is the side clubs try and attack when they get out of defence we defently need to improve that side quickly I’d won’t be surprised if angi gets someone now but need someone before europe

  • John says:

The new Japanese centre-back can also play at left back as can Johnstone. If the guy doesn’t improve quickly I wouldn’t be surprised if Ange shuffles the defence around. His crossing is poor and he gets caught out of position, these are the worrying things but I am sure with extra encouragement and discipline he will improve but he needs to do it quickly.
