Celtic are reportedly in talks with Greek international striker  Georgios Giakoumakis.

As Ange Postecoglou prepares for life without Odsonne Edouard, Glasgow Live reports that the Hoops gaffer has turned to his native homeland in a bid to strengthen his forward line.

Giakoumakis currently plays for VVV-Venlo in Holland and despite bagging twenty six goals in thirty appearances, the Greek striker couldn’t help his side avoid relegation from the Dutch Eredivisie.

Giakoumakis started his career at P.A.O. back in 2011 where he was not stranger to finding the back of the net at such a young age where he scored eight in 25 appearances for the Greek side.

After moves to Platanias FC and Eposkopi in 2012 and 2014 respectively, the 26 year old earned his big move to AEK Athens at a time where he was described as on of the ‘brightest young talents’ in his position in Greece.

Unfortunately he only managed to score once in thirty appearances and he was sold to VVV-Venlo in a deal worth €600,000 after two unsuccessful loan spells at OFI and Gornik Zabrze from 2019-2020.

It was at Venlo last season when the Greek star really hit form and, just like Kyogo Furuhashi, he scored a hat trick on his home debut against FC Emmen.

He also scored four goals in one match back in January this year in a 4-1 away win to ADO Den Haag.

There is no doubt that Giakoumakis has an eye for goal and with the talented striker resigned to playing his football in Holland’s second tier, a move to Celtic could prove too appealing to turn down.
