It didn’t take long now did it? No sooner than Celtic announced a £6m pre tax loss, talk has turned to the Hoops star man being sold. Odsonne Edouard will always be the subject of transfer speculation. It’s par for the course when you have a clearly talented striker with an eye for goal.

Celtic have been blessed with those types of strikers for decades. From Larsson and Sutton to Dembelé and now Edouard.  Even though there were no official bids from other clubs, ex Celt now radio pundit, Mark Wilson, reckons the reason for Edouard’s drop in form was because he had his head turned during the transfer window.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Wilson said, “The big thing in the summer was to keep a hold of Edouard because of this fabled 10 narrow and he stayed. When things started to go pear shaped you wonder if his form started to go off track because he had his eye on a move in January. It didn’t come about, but he certainly picked up his performances and it could be a thing that Celtic might be interested in.

“He’s playing exceptionally well there is another couple of months to go to the end of the season, if he keeps us form up it will keep his price tag up and like any club money is going out the door pretty quickly and Celtic are no different.

If you’ve got an asset like Odsonne Edouard he might fetch a pretty price.”

Edouard has been the subject of much criticism this season where another former Celt, Frank McAvennie, claimed that he didn’t look interested , this irked Edouard so much that he had to take to Twitter to discredit the claim after scoring a hat trick for the Hoops.
