I think it is fair to say that Celtic’s performance tonight in the Czech Republic was a bit of a mixed bag. Going forward, scoring four goals away from home in any European tie is impressive but the fact it could have been two or three more you can take one of two ways.

In one hand you could point to the night being a job well done and the fact that the team scored four goals whilst creating chances is the mark of a good performance.

On the other hand you could look at the defensive display that was the cause of conceding two goals and rue the missed chances at the top of the park that could have put the tie to bed. If you’re John Hartson, you choose the former.

However, the defensive display cannot be ignored and speaking post match on BBC Scotland, James McFadden, hinted that the club are about to make moves in the transfer market after tonight’s win, “There are positives to take, but the warning is defensively, they can’t switch off now.

“If you’re asking to play a higher line and to push bodies forward, you’re going to be open to a counter attack.

“You have to deal with it better when you get into those situations. But I think the positive is they have won the game and they’ve won it comfortably.

“It should have been far more comfortable than what it was. They will bring in a right back. I think that’s glaring they need a right back.

“It’s not happening for Anthony Ralston but for Celtic to be challenging on all fronts this season, they need to strengthen.

“So there will be players that will come in that will make them better.”

Although speculation has been mounting on who the Hoops will bring in, it is thought Aurelio Buta is the top target for Celtic this window.
