Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda rumours quashed by Dan Orlowitz

|

It seemed too good to be true and I should have stuck with my hunch.

I wrote an article tonight about a mysterious twitter account that claimed Celtic are in for Reo Hatate from Kawasaki Frontale.

And the only thing that swayed me was that the account seemed legit and credible.

And it seems not only have I got it wrong, so has every Celtic blogger and mainstream media outlet in Scotland.

What this also confirms is my long time suspicion that the mainstream media do take Celtic bloggers articles and run with them without a second thought.

Anyway, that is side show.

As I was writing the original story, I decided to tweet respected journalist, Dan Orlowitz, to ask him his advice on the rumours and what he said was very interesting.

Dan very kindly replied to my request and, somewhat disappointingly, confirmed by original suspicions that this account was an attention seeking twitter account.

Dan also goes on to say about the source, “His first big scoop was that FC Tokyo was going to sign some Indian player, got a ton of followers from that, turned out to be complete bullsh*t. Wash rinse repeat.”

And he also quashed those ‘Kyogo to Southampton’ rumours.

So the moral of the story is if you have a gut feeling that a story is complete nonsense, stick with it.
