Report – Celtic eye up £10m man as Lennon prepares for Edouard departure

|

Celtic have been linked with Trabzonspor striker, Caleb Ekuban, as the Hoops set about planning for 2020/21 and their (probable) attempt at achieving an historic 10-in-a-row.

The Daily Record has reported on the story which originates from Turkish news outlet Karar, the Ghanian international may be familiar to some observers of English football with the striker having previously been at Leeds United.

With eight goals in 25 games, he is hardly prolific and with a reported valuation of £10million (according to The Record), Celtic are unlikely to be interested in breaking their transfer record to secure his services, especially given his unspectacular spell in British football.

A lot of Neil Lennon’s recruitment will come down to who leaves the club when the transfer window opens and 2019/20 has been resolved one way or another, Odsonne Edouard continues to be linked with a host of Premier League clubs and few would bet against him still playing in the famous green and white hoops despite the importance of next season to fans.

From which club did Celtic sign Henrik Larsson?

One man said to be on his way in is Gary Penrice, a former player with Nick Hammond at Bristol Rovers, who has been offered the role of Chief Scout. With experience in both the Championship and Premier League, he is well placed to join the recruitment team at Celtic Park as the Hoops look to continue their unprecedented period of success on and off the pitch.

However, with it being reported by the SPFL that no football will be played until August and that the new season might not kick-off until mid-September, it may be some time before we see any arrivals or departures at Parkhead.
