Respected Celtic pundit says strikers “days are numbered”

Leigh Griffiths.  Love him or hate him, the boy is an enigma. Once the darling of the Celtic support, and some may say he still is, there is no doubt that the strikers actions this season have tested not only the patience of the Hoops fans but also manager, Neil Lennon.  When given the opportunity, Griffiths no doubt still has that eye for goal that managers would kill for in their strikers.  In fourteen appearances this season, Griffiths has still found the net on six occasions for the Hoops.

From returning from pre season break overweight, to his post’s on social media platforms and hosting a party during a global pandemic, Lennon’s patience seems to be running out with the talented striker and journalist and Celtic TV match commentator, Peter Martin, agrees.  Speaking on his PLZ Soccer YouTube channel, Martin reckons Griffiths will be gone in the summer and suggests that the relationship between Lennon and Griffiths has broken down“My personal opinion on it is I think his days are numbered. I think Leigh Griffiths will be leaving in the summer. You talk about a cat with nine lives – I look at the situation and I just get a sense that all is not well between player and manager. He needs to buck up his ideas, but I think he will be one of many players that will be on his way in the summer.”

Although a calf injury at the beginning of the season also didn’t help, Griffiths attitude was also questioned when Brendan Rodgers took over the club and it seems the Scottish international has still not learned his lesson.
