Georgios Samaras has announced his retirement from football after a varied and exciting career for many clubs and the Greek national team.

The definition of a cult hero, some clubs might not think much of him but for us he was a fine player that played his part in a successful period for us.

A striker of languid style, his hair and beard made him a real enigma but he could play, too, and quite often earned us the three points.

In light of his retirement, then, the Bhoys have posted these numbers on Twitter which highlights his class:

A decent strike-rate for a player who was never really an out and out forward, Samaras had a decent time for our club.

Four league titles is what stands out most of all, though, as he enjoyed a very successful stay at Celtic Park and could have played perhaps longer.

All the best in your retirement, Sammi!
