I love a good roast. Especially when it comes to the Celtic board and by God, did they get a roasting at the AGM.

But you what’s even better? When the board get a roasting and it also rips the mob from Ibrox.

And that is exactly what Stephen McGowan did when he took the principal shareholder to task for his non attendance for the fifteenth year in a row, “His vast wealth bought him 30 per cent of the shares in Celtic in return for 100 per cent of the say.

“And there’s something not quite right about that. The latest AGM at Parkhead provided yet more evidence of a disconnect between the men who run Celtic and the rank-and-file shareholders who support them.

“Before Desmond pitched up with Fergus McCann, the club was run by a cartel of private-ruling families.

“The Kellys, the Whites and the Grants passed their shares down from generation to generation.

“And their Marie Antoinette approach to customer relations eventually took the club to the brink of liquidation. Or demotion, as director Brian Wilson might put it.

“That won’t happen with Desmond at the helm — and that’s no bad thing.

The basic premise of whether Celtic would stave off liquidation because of a billionaire is neither here nor there as the accounts show.

Celtic don’t rely on handouts from Desmond to keep the club afloat, or for transfer funds.

So should the fans be looking to force out an absentee landlord or hedge their bets on financial security whilst those at the top lumber on?

If it came to contest between MORE MONEY for the Desmond family or Celtic are you confident CELTIC would win ?
