As panic continues to set in at Ibrox, the supporters will be worried that their recent run of poor performances will end their title hunt prematurely.
Who cares right? Because they have been winging it for long enough with lucky European runs that masked over Gio’s poor domestic form last season.
Europe saved his job and, ironically enough, it’s Europe that started all the talk of him getting sacked this season.
But the reason simply isn’t down to bad results.
Former Rangers keeper Cammy Bell reckons that the lack of quality coming off their bench compared to ours doesn’t help.
Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Bell moaned, “It just shows you the difference.
“Guys on the [Celtic] bench are so close to the guys that are starting, quality-wise and form-wise as well.
“And that for me is the difference between Celtic and Rangers at the moment.
“Rangers are struggling for guys with any form on the pitch, never mind on the bench.
“And they’re chopping and changing all the time whereas Celtic if they’re struggling during the game, they’ve got guys that can come on that pitch hit the ground running and can change the game within a second.”
Shame that isn’t it?
Wasn’t too long ago that he, along with the other Ibrox pundits, where hailing Gio’s squad as ‘European quality’ and less than six months after reaching a final they are now not good enough?
What a difference a transfer window makes.
