The Kyogo ‘story’ should be treated with the contempt it deserves

This story was surprising, but not unexpected. As Kyogo Furuhashi enjoys a plush spell of goal scoring form at Celtic, there was always going to a transfer story at one point linking him to another English Premiership Club.

Now, linking is a a bit of a stretch and the guys at HITC didn’t half stretch this story out.

The link originated from Italian website Calciomercato.com and it was a simple one paragraph piece of nonsense with no substance, no source and ultimately, no credibility.

The statement was, “Southampton have set their sights on Kyōgo Furuhashi,Japanese striker born in 1995 of Celtic, former Vissel Kobe.

That was it. No quotes from any sources of this nonsense. Nothing. Lazy journalism at it’s absolute worst.

If this site or any other site with ambitions to at least becoming an informative website for Celtic fans to turn to for news on their club came up with that, they would be laughed off and, quite rightly, labelled as clickbait garbage.

Which it should have been by HITC.

Normally a semi decent publication that generally gives opinion based pieces on source-able content, the writer, Kyle Archer decided to write a six paragraph piece talking about nothing.

Well, nothing is a bit harsh, but he did manage to get his 250+ words detailing Furuhashi’s start at the club and inserting a baseless statement claiming, “Postecoglou could have longer term concerns over Furuhashi at Celtic, as Southampton are weighing up a potential transfer.”

Do me a favour. Postecoglou will be worrying about no such thing and if you believe that Southampton are ‘weighing up’ a potential offer then prove it.

Give a source. Give anything except a run down of what we already knew about life at Celtic for Kyogo.

And if you want to know what kind of site and knowledge Calciomercato.com has on Celtic, just search for the club in  the website search engine.

Maybe Archer should have done that before putting his name to such a nothing ‘story’.
