The Media Just Don’t Get Our Gaffer

Ange Postecoglu is so far ahead of the mainstream media in Scotland that they don’t seem to know what questions to ask him.

Following last week’s 2-0 home win against Aberdeen, the gaffer showed the high demands he’s placing on players by criticising our finishing on the day.

Fast forward to Dingwall today and the BBC seemed to be expecting/hoping for a similar backlash from the manager after a tight game.

Instead, he rebuffed every absurd question by the reporter. The team had played well, when asked if he was fearing a draw, the Celtic gaffer told the journalist flat out that he always expected the boys to not only win the game but to keep pushing for a third which they did.

Ange then backed this up with a more balanced piece of journalism from Celtic TV.

The truth is that Ange Postecoglou doesn’t buy into tired football cliches. He’s a manager that sets high standards for his players and when they don’t meet them, they will know about it.

He also understands the game up here far more than the journalists and half the managers plying their trade in Scottish football.

He knows Dingwall is a tough place to go, that it will be physical, and they will keep it tight for long periods.

Ange shows respect to every team in the league. Maybe that’s why the press can’t figure him out.

I love Ange and the way he deals with the press, he doesn’t fall into the trap they are hoping to set, he is far too clever. It’s a disgrace that in this day and age(with say no to racism) that the media are still allowed to portray this pen hostility.
Celtic as a club should be so grateful we have a manager with class and dicorum who doesn’t fall for their rubbish
