If there was one player that got any kind of pass marks this season, you would have to think that David Turnbull is one of them. Celtic’s PFA Young Player of the Year was in sensational form when he made the breakthrough at Paradise this season and the Hoops fans took him right to their hearts.

But, as is the way of these things, Turnbull has come under the microscope and is the subject of speculation of a £7m bid from Aston Villa.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, former Celtic midfielder, Davie Provan warned that the young midfielder is not for sale and there would be serious repercussions, if the Celtic board decided to cash in on their talented midfielder,  “There was talk of Aston Villa coming in for David Turnbull. Celtic will not sell David Turnbull, the supporters would burn the main stand down if they sold David Turnbull.

“He is certainly not for sale. And he’s probably the one real bright spot of what has been a disastrous season for Celtic. He’s the is a light at the end of the tunnel if you like. He’s the one that Celtic could build a team around. Him and Callum McGregor.

“He will be as good as he wants to be.  I mean I think he’s got everything. He’s just a top, top player and he could go straight into the Scotland team without any worries at all.”

I agree with Provan. It would make no sense to sell a player of Turnbull’s clear quality and not to mention his commitment to Celtic at a time where we are looking to build a team and also at a time when we have players like Christie and N’tcham seemingly desperate to leave the club.
