“I actually know” – Hartson gives Celtic fans hope on wantaway star

With the rebuild job required at Celtic Park this coming season, the Celtic fans are resigned to the fact they face losing some of their top stars like Ryan Christie, Kristoffer Ajer and Odsonne Edouard.

If you were to offer the fans a choice of one of the stars they could pick to stay, you would think that Edouard would be the man right?

Well, speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, former Celtic striker John Hartson, gave Celtic fans hope that Edouard may be persuaded to stay at the Hoops next season, especially after the Frenchman’s cryptic Instagram post, “There’s almost like a school of thought and expectancy from everyone. And I mean everyone will go on record and say this.

“The Celtic fans all think he’s is going. We don’t know that. The club may well not get the right transfer fee for him.

“Somebody’s got to come in and pay the money that Celtic value him at. I actually know that Edouard loves playing for Celtic, he really really does.

“But there’s just been this process over the last year, maybe the year before that he was definitely staying. This particular season, on the back of such a poor season as well for Celtic, everybody seems to think he’s leaving.

“But listen, it wouldn’t be beyond all realms that he wants to stay. What if it Eddie Howe is having talks, and he’s saying to the owners, ‘Look, I want to come and by the way, I love this kid we’ve got up front Edouard, I would love to keep him up again give me half an hour with him.‘

“There is this thought process that he will leave. But listen, he said today he can’t wait to play in front of the fans again.”

Is it false hope that Hartson has just given the fans? Or is Edouard likely to go? Personally I would like him to stay but only if he signs a new contract rather than the reason that Celtic can’t get the money they are looking for.

And it seems that that may be way off the cards as it is widely expected that Edouard is likely to join former boss, Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City.
