Celtic have seemingly finally signed their Swedish centre back Carl Starfelt in a €5m deal from Russian outfit Rubin Kazan.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano tweeted:  Carl Starfelt will join Celtic on a permanent deal from Rubin Kazan, the deal is done and confirmed. No doubt. €5m fee for the centre back. The deal has not officially been announced by Celtic as Romano confirms the process may take some days to finalise and announce.

This comes after Rubin Kazan Head Coach, Leonid Slutsky, said of the potential transfer, “These are the rules of the game. If we receive an interesting offer that is beneficial to everyone, we are forced to accept it.

“This confuses plans a little, but such a situation can always be laid. It is possible that someone else will leave us this summer.

“This is normal. I’m glad this is happening. When the transfer takes place officially, it will be the largest transfer.”

Starfelt was a popular player in Russia as he made 31 appearances for Rubin Kazan but also managing to get his name on the score sheet three times.

Although Starfel missed out on Euro 2020 with the Swedish National squad, the 26 year old does have three caps so far.  Starfelt is one that Celtic have earmarked tot replace the outgoing Kristoffer Ajer who will depart for Brentford in a record £13m deal for the newly promoted English Premier League club.
