Brendan Rodgers has left Celtic to join Leicester City and fans have been left fuming by his comments in his farewell statement.
The now controversial former Hoops boss offered more platitudes to supporters that rung hollow.
He told the official Celtic website:
It has been a real honour to serve the Club and its supporters across the past three seasons. I have been a Celtic supporter all my life and the reason I came to Glasgow was to work for the Club I had such love and affection for.
Nobody believes his words at this point after he walked out on the club in the middle of a title run-in and Scottish Cup push, on the even of visiting Tynecastle, arguably the venue we’ve struggled most in recently.
Supporters have been left reeling by the past 24 hours, never seriously believing that they would be left in the lurch by a man who has spoken so passionately about the club for the last three years.
Many feel he has used the club and the support for his own selfish gain, even if he has delivered unprecedented success domestically.
Where Celtic go now is unknown, but Neil Lennon will be in charge and that will at least unite fans.
These supporters took to Twitter tonight to share their thoughts on Rodgers’ comments and actions…
Don't ever invite him back to Glasgow

I can’t help but feel the statements from both parties are just hollow and meaningless words. The battle of the big guns behind the scenes is over now. Full support behind Neil Lennon now and more continued success!! COYBIG ????????????

No man is bigger than the club. However if Rodgers had left in the summer having won 8IAR but no Scottish Cup for instance, he’d have left with everyone’s respect & gratitude. To leave in February, having tarnished his record of domestic domination, for Leicester is unforgivable.

Took us all for ride when it came to judging his character. Can’t argue with his footballing knowledge & achievements but he’s a weasel of a man.

It’s a sad day. 11 games of the league left. 3 games left in the Scottish cup. BR had the opportunity to guide us to a treble treble. Never will he EVER DO this at any other club. To leave us in the lurch at this stage is unforgettable and unforgivable.

At least Brendan could have been honest and said he’s gone for the money, nothing else, as for his Celtic will always be my club rubbish he doesn’t mean a word he says as who would leave a club they supposedly love with 11 games to go.I thought he had principles appears not.

Utterly disgraceful leaving like that! zero loyalty to the Club and more to the fans disgraceful!!!

To go at this stage of the season very poor for Leicester City to approach and snatch him at this stage of the season pathetic let’s not forget that to allow Leicester to speak to him at this stage of the season unforgivable ????
