I’ve always thought that Celtic never really gave this guy a chance and it seems as though I am unfortunately, being proved correct.

Patryk Klimala was signed for £3m back in the summer of 2019 and over the course of his two season stay, only managed twenty eight appearances and scored three goals.

The majority of his appearances came from the bench as he played second fiddle to Odsonne Edouard, but it does seem as though this could be a mistake by Celtic, which to be fair is not on Ange Postecoglou, as the deal to let him go to New York Red Bulls was done before the big Australian got to Celtic Park.

Klimala was on target again last night for the Red Bulls as he linked with another ex Celtic player, Andrew Gutman, to score a well placed finish to beat David Beckham’s Inter Miami to the sword.

And as per usual on Twitter, many Celtic fans commented on his goal and one fan tweeted the Red Bulls “Celtic connection” and the club replied simply with:

Klimala was recently interviewed about his time at Celtic and he said that former manager Neil Lennon, left him perplexed as to why he wasn’t getting enough opportunities at Paradise, “Neil Lennon and I spoke a few times about why I didn’t play, what I had to improve on, how I had to make myself up.

“I think I did it but sometimes this happens. Edouard was having a good season, was scoring goals and was doing it every game.

“I was pissed off, to be honest, because I didn’t play but that’s football, sometimes it works and other times it doesn’t.”

And it seems to be paying off in the MLS as Klimala seems to be enjoying his football again and the Red Bulls are reaping the benefits of that.
