As the debate on VAR rages on and the date the clubs vote on it’s introduction to the Scottish game nears, the standard of refereeing continues to be at the forefront of every fan in the game.

From the soft penalty award at Ibrox that rescued Rangers a point against Aberdeen, to some rather questionable decisions being made at other grounds around the country, it seems the appetite for VAR grows stronger with each passing weekend.

Celtic have also seen their fair share of refereeing judgements go against them this season.

More notably the offside goal against Hearts on the opening day of the season, Andy Halliday’s stud up tackle on Callum McGregor in the very same game. Or Ryan Porteous shocking challenge on the Celtic captain against Hibs last week.

Not to mention Zander Clarke’s shove on Jota last week and Mikey Johnson being fouled in the Hibs box on Wednesday night.

There has been a raft of incidents against Celtic that have gone unpunished this season and it seems the fans have had enough.

Attending a fan media event representing major Celtic podcaster, The Cynic, twitter account Ginty1888 asked the club about the standard of refereeing in Scotland and what they plan to do about it and their answer was stark:

So whatever Celtic have planned behind the scene’s lets hope it  takes effect sooner rather than later because with £40m riding on the destination of this seasons title, another honest mistake could turn out to be an expensive one!
