As the transfer window circus continues to roll into town, the speculation regarding Celtic’s incomings and outgoings have been at fever pitch for some time now. With the Hoops now completing their seventh signing of the widow with the arrivals of Joe Hart and James McCarthy this week, attention will now focus to the full back positions.

With Celtic heavily linked with a move for Hibs left back Josh Doig, it seems there may be some movement on the young Scottish talent within the next week or so as Hibs boss, Jack Ross, says it’s time to call an end to the speculation in his pre match Europa League press conference, “As a club we need to take control of the situation. I’m also very conscious of Josh’s welfare as a young man.

“He is still young and has been through a lot in a short period of time. From a football point of view we need to bring the situation to a head one way or another.

“On Sunday we expected it to be something that was completed imminently but as of yet that hasn’t happened.

“Once we get beyond Thursday’s game, and if nothing has progressed as we anticipated it would then we need to relook at the situation I want to ensure I have my squad in place.”

Hibs have already refused offers for Doig and there are reports that Watford and Burnley are ready to offer £4m for the youngster.

Whether Celtic will up the ante and make their move is still unknown but at least now the club knows the full back is available but it may take a bid closer to £5m to prise him away from Leith.
