After Celtic’s 2-1 loss to Hearts at Tynecastle on Saturday night, a caller raised a point on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard about the performance of referee Bobby Madden.

The caller, Liam, said that two “game changing” decisions cost Celtic the three points at Gorgie on Saturday and said the referee Bobby Madden had a shocker.

The blatant foul by Andy Halliday on Celtic skipper Callum McGregor should have been am instant red card and the goal given offside were two decisions by the officials that cost Celtic the game and therefore heaped pressure on Ange Postecoglou.

In fairness to the caller, he did say that Madden is the best ref we have but when he suggested that the ref cost Celtic the match, Hugh Keevins turned the subject and blamed, well you will see for yourself,  “I really don’t know how he (Halliday) could defend himself.  It is blatant. The referee has missed it.

“But there are other game changing issues. Scott Bain in goal is one of three bad goalkeepers at Celtic. And Starfield, just into the team. You’re looking for him to be more aggressive at the free kick from which John Souter scores.”

“Celtic supporters are right to be angry at Bobby Madden. However, the big picture.

“Craig Gordon is let go by Celtic who insult, Craig Gordon in the final analysis, and forced him to leave the club because of the reduction of wages which they offered him.

“He was an outstanding goalkeeper for Celtic should still be Celtic.  Then you look at Ajeti, and you look at Barkas and you look at Bolingoli.

“The place is full of multi million pound misfits. The decision making at Celtic for a long time now, has been the game changer.”

Yep, a reasonable call to highlight poor refereeing already costing Celtic in the league after one game and Hugh turns the tables onto Celtic.

The more things change at Celtic, the more things stay the same in Scottish football.
