Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed on Friday afternoon that Hoops attacking midfielder Tom Rogic is facing a spell of up to six weeks on the sidelines, as reported by BBC Scotland.

The Australian international will undergo a knee operation after an unexpected problem was found when the player was receiving treatment for a hand injury sustained at the Asian Cup.

It’s a bitter blow to Rodgers’ first-team with injuries mounting across the squad as we prepare for some massive matches and a very tricky February.

Rogic has had his fair share of injury and fitness problems since joining the club, but his importance to positive results has grown and losing him means we miss out on a unique and important attacking threat.

Ryan Christie, Callum McGregor and Scott Brown are holding things down in the middle of the park right now, but with our schedule packed, those three will need some sort of relief over the next month or so, or risk their own injury status.

Fans are a little worried and took to Twitter this weekend to share their thoughts on it all…
