Yesterday afternoon we had written on this site that we didn’t expect many changes in the first team for the visit to Ross County this afternoon.

If anything, a possible change in the front line was more likely after Ange Postecoglou’s scathing post-match comments after the 2-0 win over Aberdeen last Sunday.

But it was the back line that saw a surprise change as Stephen Welsh drops out and Moritz Jenz was handed his first team SPFL debut against Ross County.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound pre-match, the Celtic gaffer explained his reason for this, “Moritz comes in. Unfortunately, Stephen Welsh pulled up a bit ill after training yesterday so he misses out.

“But yeah, Moritz has been training well.

“That’s his first start for us and, you know, we’re confident he will do well.”

Celtic will be looking to build on last week’s victory to keep the momentum going in the defence of the league title.

Dingwall has proven to be a difficult place to visit as last season showed.

But with the team more settled, and having a few more additions, the Celtic gaffer and the fans should be confident of securing all three points this afternoon.
