Now this is a take on a Celtic transfer I thought I would never be writing.
As the Hoops ramp up their transfer activity this window, all the speculation linking them to Australian international Riley McGree has certainly ramped up over the weekend.
And as many fans asked, ‘Who?’, Australian soccer expert Vince Rugari gave a somewhat, unorthodox, appraisal of the attacking midfielder:
Ooft. Riley McGree to Celtic?
Don’t know much about it, but if it happens, that’s a good signing IMO. Kid has big potential.

At just 23 years old, McGree has nine caps for the Socceroo’s and looking at his time at Birmingham City, the youngster was highly popular as he tore up the English Championship over an 18 month loan spell.
Rugari goes on to ask, “Do they really need another CM/AM? He needs minutes at this point in his career, who does he start in front of?
“If I’m McGree I’m not going to Celtic for a bit part role if other clubs want to start me. Then again, Ange… it’s a really interesting one.”
And it is just that. The Celtic gaffer seems to pull these names out of thin air that catch the fans and the media off guard and ever since the Australian has joined the Hoops, many are loathe now to criticise an unknown quantity such is the job Postecoglou has done since he arrived in Glasgow.
There is no doubt Ange has an eye for a player. And going by what I have read so far about McGree, this boy is a player also.
This window is going to be very interesting.
