As Celtic woes continue on the field, off the field, the COVID shambles still carries on and next in line to question Celtic’s antics is ex player now columnist, Davie Provan.

Provan enjoyed an illustrious career with the Hoops winning four league titles and winning both domestic cups once during his tenure at Paradise. Now he makes a pretty decent living as a pundit and newspaper columnist.

In his latest piece in The Scottish Sun, Provan backs Celtic’s trip to Dubai but does question why central defender, Christopher Jullien, was taken at all, “For the avoidance of doubt, I saw nothing wrong with Celts heading for the Middle East.

Right now, there’s a lot of sport going on in that part of the world and not just football.

Abu Dhabi just hosted the last F1 Grand Prix of the season. European Tour golfers compete for the HSBC Open in the Emirate this week.

Elsewhere, the ATP tennis tour was in Turkey last week, while England’s cricketers are currently playing in Sri Lanka without a word of criticism.

You wonder why Jullien was there in the first place when he wasn’t training.

“Spare me the idea he wouldn’t have had better treatment back home.

By the law of averages every player you add to the party increases the risk of Covid breaching your bubble.

Jullien should have been nowhere near Dubai.

“Instead, by coming back with a positive case, Celts have given hypocrite politicians a chance to put the stiletto in.
