This is a player that Vital Celtic have been writing on since way back in August.

We reported on 10th August last year that Davie Provan tipped the Hoops for a move to take Benji Siegrist from Dundee United and even as far back as January of last year as well when we told how Csaba Lazlo also claimed the Swiss u21 international could solve Celtic’s goalkeeping problems ‘for years‘.

We then also told how Chris Sutton, Charlie Mulgrew and Gordon Dalziel all tipped Siegrist for a move to the Hoops and today, it seems to be coming to fruition that a move to the Scottish Champions could be on the cards for the now released former Dundee United keeper.

In todays Daily Mail, Stephen McGowan reveals that our club are looking to sign Siegrist as a possible replacement for the now departed Vasilis Barkas.

Barkas joined FC Utrecht on a season long loan which meant that the club would need to find a suitable replacement for the Greek international.

Siegrist has spent four seasons at Tannadice and has impressed pundits and former players all season with his form for The Terrors.

Now a free agent, you would have to say that this is a risk free move by the club as they are getting a well established and experienced SPFL goalkeeper.

Siegrist has won the Liechtenstein FA Cup and is a World Cup winner for the Swiss u17’s in 2009 defeating Germany, Colombia and Italy on the way to the final against Nigeria were they won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Haris Seferovic.
