As Celtic ramp up the transfer activity in January, the three new Japanese signings of Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda and Yosuke Ideguchi certainly have set the fire in the belly for the Hoops fans.

A much needed shot in the arm, if these three have half the impact Kyogo Furuhashi has had in the short time he has been at the club, then the Celtic supporters are in for one hell of a ride in the last half of the season.

But Kyogo isn’t the only new signing that has impressed. On loan Spurs defender Cameron Carter Vickers has also delighted the fans, and manager, with his no nonsense style of defending.

After last season,  where defensive calamities where the norm, Carter Vickers has brought steely calmness in the backline, so much so that Ange Postecoglou is now looking to add the big American permanently to his squad.

There has been much written about the kind of fee the Celtic board would need to shell out but recent reports from down south [The Express] [The Baharat Express] regarding Tottenham’s need to sell before they can buy will be music to the ears of the Hoops fans.

Spurs manager Antonio Conte has been told that the club must look to move on fringe players to reduce their wage bill before he can look to add fresh faces to his squad and this could mean a cut price deal for Carter Vickers may be on the table, if Celtic look to pursue their interest this window.

Adding the American international permanently at a time where he is bang of form would be another shot in the arm for the first team and could well help drive the team onto the title and the £40m Champions League bounty on offer.
