The Celtic transfer talk will ramp up now that the winter break is being brought forward.

As Ange looks to get more bodies in to strengthen for the title run in, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie has urged the board to spend the money on a player that is already at the club.

Speaking to Football Insider, McAvennie says the Celtic hierarchy must be looking to make the signing of Cameron Carter Vickers permanent as soon as possible.

McAvennie believes he is one of the main reasons that the Celtic defence has been much improved and it is time to repay that faith in the big American with a permanent contract, “Starfelt wasn’t quite at it against Hibs.

“For me, he was a bit sloppy. He was letting his man get past him far too easily.

“You could see that for the goal Hibs scored. Carter-Vickers on the other hand was brilliant.

“I’m starting to really like him. He’s been really solid in recent weeks.

“For me, he’s been the one who has played a big role in improving that defence.

“Joe Hart also has to take massive credit for that but Carter-Vickers has been playing every game for a reason.

“If it’s only going to cost £3million I would get that done in January, pay the money.

“Then he’s ours and we don’t need to worry about it.”

I have written many times on this blog about Carter Vickers. It’s a no brainer that Celtic should get this deal tied up.

He has proven his worth already and needs to be signed on ASAP.
