Two loan signings at Celtic have made a massive contribution to the early success of the team so far this season.

When you look at last seasons loans and that they contributed the square root of zero, it’s not hard to see why the Celtic fans were dubious about further loan players coming in.

So when you look at Jota and Carter Vickers contribution, already we have fans clambering to get them signed up permanently.

But what chance do the club have of pulling off those signings?

Mark Guidi was discussing Carter Vickers on The Go Radio Football Show, and he was giving his opinion on signing the big American on a permanent basis, “I think the benefit when you’re a manager and you like what you see, and clearly Carter Vickers is a quality player and as you know very, very comfortable in Scottish football is that you’ve got somebody ready made.

“There’s no language barrier, he knows the team, he knows the club.

“He’s got clearly got the mentality to cope with playing at a massive club like Celtic. So that’s all ticks.

“What the fees gonna be is out of Celtics control but it’s up to them whether they want a meet it or not.

“But the key thing is  10 million quid is a hell of a lot of money that that would smash Celtics transfer record.

“If I put myself in Celtic shoes, would I pay 10 million pounds for Carter Vickers? No, I wouldn’t.

“Would I pay six? Yeah.

“Would I pay 10 million for Jota? Yes, I would. But I wouldn’t for Carter Vickers.

“It’s really difficult to get a centre half. Really difficult.

“And this guy’s up to it.

“So do I think Carter Vickers will be at Celtic next season? I think it’s 50/50.”

Fans would hope that after Sunday’s cup win, those odds would move more towards being in favour of a move, but with the defender being cagey on his future, no one knows what the future holds for the American.
