As the betting on Roy Keane becoming the new Celtic manager was dramatically suspended by the bookies, a couple of new names have come out of left field and entered the bookies running.

As it looks increasingly likely that Roy Keane is going to be unveiled as the new Celtic man, money is still being ploughed on a number of out of work managers.

First up is Nicky Butt. Butt is an ex team mate of Keane and was heavily linked to join Keane as his Assistant at Paradise. As an outside bet at 33/1 (Skybet), clearly there are punters taking a chance that the former Manchester United development officer could be named as boss, but it does look highly unlikely.

Surprisingly former Aberdeen boss, Derek McInnes, is also available at 33/1. But after being dismissed by the Dons after only one trophy in nine seasons, 33/1 reflects the chances of the ex Pittodrie man succeeding Neil Lennon.

After tonight’s awful 2-2 draw with Austria, Scotland boss Steve Clarke has bombed from being joint favourite for the Parkhead hot seat to 28/1. Clarke needed a late John McGinn goal to rescue a point for the Scots as their World Cup Qualifying campaign started with a stutter tonight.

Roy Keane for next Celtic gaffer?

YES

YES

NO

NO

Interestingly, a name touted by Vital Celtic last week, Leonardo Jardim has dropped to 20/1 from 33/1 suggesting that a late flurry of betting may mean that he has a slim chance of claiming the job. But the former Monaco boss and Ligue 1 winner would still need to overcome long term favourites John Kennedy (11/4) and Enzo Maresca (8/1).

Although it looks like a forgone conclusion Keane will be unveiled, you just never know. One of these names could have their say and I haven’t even mentioned the late incomer, Chris Coleman. Until now……..
