Celtic captain Scott Brown has ended speculation he could leave the club this summer, signing a new two-year deal, as announced by the official Hoops website.

The midfielder has made over 500 appearances in Celtic colours signing joining from Hibernian in 2007, winning an incredible 17 trophies along the way, including captaining the side to a famous double treble under Brendan Rodgers.

Speaking to the official Celtic website, Brown said: β€œI’m absolutely delighted to have signed this new contract extension. Celtic has been such an important part of my life for a long time now, since I joined the club back in 2007, and this really is home for me.”

It ends rumours he may have quit life in Glasgow for moves to Dubai or Australia, with cash rich teams willing to hand him lucrative contracts in the twilight years of his career.

It’s clear though he still has unfinished business at Celtic and will now help the club push for an unprecedented ten league titles in a row.
