Neil Lennon’s interview really opened up a can of worms yesterday did it not?

As well as raking over old coals from his ill fated ten in a row season, the former Celtic gaffer revealed that he was ‘far from happy’ about comments made by former team mates of his towards the end of his tenure.

We all know who they are.

Chris Sutton and John Hartson were both close team mates with the Northern Irishman during his playing days but also harsh critics as Celtic stuttered and fell half way through the iconic season.

Peter Martin asked Lennon about it on the PLZ Soccer show and Lennon’s answers were telling:

Martin: “Have you have you had the chance to speak to them about it?”

Lennon: “I’m far from happy Pete. Yes.”

Martin: “What was the reaction?”

Lennon: “Ah but, but, but, but I didn’t mean it that way.”

Martin: “Is it one? Is it two? Can you tell me who they are? Or do we just have to draw our own conclusions?”

Lennon: “I think you can draw your own conclusions Peter. I mean, it’s not rocket science.”

What it would have been to be a fly on the wall in that conversation.

Let’s hope now Lennon has the closure he needs on this and both Celtic fans and the former manager can move on from the whole sorry episode.

Lennon can get tae…… Those pundits cared more about the club and the fans than he did.
He hung around for his pay off and was happy to see ten in a row go up in flames as long as he got a bing to leave the club.
If he cared he’d have walked after losing 4-1 to Sparta Prague.

He should never have got the job in the first place! Fair enough he stepped in when BR left, but it should’ve ended there at the seasons end; for a club thats run like a business, they don’t half make some terrible decisions based on emotions, and obviously to save a few £!

The club should have used the time between Lennon stepping in for Rodgers, and the seasons end, to find and appoint a competent manager, but instead they chose the cheap emotion based option, appointing him in the shower after a big cup win; really soured that day and seasons end for a huge portion of the support, we all saw it as a terrible move, but had no option but to support him…

We needed a fresh start then, after the 9 was secured, a clear out of the old guard, but the club chose penny pinching over progress, and it came back to bite them big time!

A year on and they finally get it right by appointing Ange, and supporting him in building a new team, but what a costly year!
