Celtic’s quest to land Cameron Carter-Vickers must be one of the most talked about transfer deals this season.

And it is understandable.

The American defender has been central to the club’s successes so far this season and it the clamor by the Celtic fans urging the board to make the deal happen has been going on for months.

Unquestionably Celtic’s most consistent performer this season, the on loan Tottenham defender does seem to be on his way to Paradise on a permanent deal after revelations that transfer talks are in the advanced stages just this week.

But BT Sports pundit and for Spurs defender Alan Hutton has questioned Celtic’s ability to finance the deal.

Speaking to Football Insider, when asked if this deal may prove to be difficult to get done, Hutton claimed, “Yeah, I think so.

“I watched him at the start of the season and he wasn’t exactly ripping up trees. I don’t think that was his fault, I think it was due to a lack of game time at the start of the season.

“He’s come up here and really shown his worth. He’s a man-mountain, very difficult to get past but also good on the ball.

“I think this is a more difficult one, especially when you consider the value it could. We could be talking be £7-10million here. Can Celtic afford to pay that?

“If the bigger teams in the Premier League are swooping, it’s going to be very difficult to hang on to him. Fair play to him. He’s come up here, he’s worked hard, and he’s made it happen for himself.”

Hutton needs to remember the cash surplus that Celtic earned in the last two windows, on top of the clubs financial results, stand the club in good stead to see this kind of deal over the line.

Finances won’t be the stumbling block, it will be the players will to commit to playing in Scotland.

One that I think, he has the appetite for.
