Vital Celtic reported yesterday that Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou has already started identifying targets for the January window which is a breath of fresh air to the Hoops fans.

For too long now, the Celtic supporters have put up with last minute panic signings every year with the club promising so much, but then delivering so little.

From our report yesterday, Postecoglou admitted that the was looking at the Japanese J League as he looks to strengthen the squad, “Yeah, that’s one of the markets [Japan] we will be looking at,”

“We have already identified targets and begun discussions before we get to January so that we can conclude deals a lot quicker than we did in the previous window.”

News that will no doubt excite Celtic fans but will also tease their curiosity.

If negotiation’s have already begun, who is it with and for which player?

According to 67 Hail Hail, the manager should be targeting another Japanese international in Daizen Maeda.

In fact, this site has already reported twice this year that the Hoops should be looking at the winger/striker as a possible target as respected J League journalist Dan Orlowitz also touted Maeda for a move to Paradise, “I think he [Postecoglou] would do very well to look at players like Daizen Maeda.

“Another player that he has coached and who has produced some very good results and will be represented in Japan at these Tokyo Olympics.”

Maeda is on fire this season for Yokohama F Marinos scoring seventeen goals in thirty three appearances and he also netted for his country at this years Olympic games against France in a 4-0 rout.

Like Kyogo, Maeda can also play on the left as well as through the middle and the dynamic forward would offer Ange Postecoglou not only further options up front, but also another player he can trust to play the style of football that the Celtic boss is yearning for.
