Charlie Nicholas is a pundit not many Celtic fans take notice of. For various reasons, but most fans know those reasons.

His constant baiting of the club over the years has been a source of major headaches and ire for the Hoops support but it looks like, on this occasion, he could be right on the money.

Speaking in his column in the Daily Express, Nicholas said, “Their (Rangers) substitutes made contributions and you have to take your hat off to Rangers going into their second extra-time scenario in four days. It was actually Celtic who looked a tired team.

“Yes, Celtic missed a golden chance to go 2-0 up through Cameron Carter-Vickers, but overall that is the poorest and most tired display I have seen from Ange Postecoglou’s side this season.

“They offered nothing up the right flank and they missed Giorgos Giakoumakis in attack big time.”

Would big Giakoumakis made any difference to Sunday’s outcome? The problem we had was lack of service to the front line from the midfield.

I’m not so sure GG would have made a material difference at all but what he would have gave the team was aggression and strength which was clearly lacking from the side.
