There was a lot of speculation surrounding this player over the summer and whether or not he would join Celtic. In fact, this site reported way back in November of 2020 that Mohamed Magdy was linked to a move to Paradise and, as yet, nothing has materialised.

The rumours broke again earlier in the month as just last week the club was, again, linked to Magdy when the Glasgow Times reported that a January loan move could be on the cards.

Well, it seems that this story is one that is set to run as the Daily Record claims that a move to Celtic is on as Al Ahly name their price for the Egyptian international.

The Record claims a representative for the club said, “Following a meeting between the president and the football sector planning committee, it was agreed Afsha will not be sold for less than 5 million dollars.

“We believe it is a very appropriate amount for the player’s capabilities and also for the price of the transfer market at the present time and his agent was informed of Al-Ahly’s conditions.”

Ahly did see a £300,000 to Sivasspor collapse in the summer [The Celtic Way] and it seems, now, that they are ready to cash in on the 26-year-old and the report says that Ange may ‘rekindle’ his interest.

I’m not really sure if we need him. Where would he fit in? Hatate, O’Riley and Turnbull are vying for a first-team place in Ange’s side so is the Celtic boss really going to spend upwards of £4m for a player who could, effectively, be sitting on the bench or does this signal another possible departure this January?

Who are Celtic’s most capped players from these countries?
