Has Ange just pulled a team selection masterstroke or made a huge mistake?

Ok, hands up. Who saw that one coming?

Not me.

When I picked my starting eleven, Sead Haksabanovic never even entered my head.

The Montenegro international has made fleeting appearances for the first team with a couple of substitute appearances this season and has impressed, but a first pick in a game like tonight?

Ange must have something up his sleeve to justify this.

For us supporters, Haksabanovic represents a relatively unknown quantity compared to Maeda and Abada.

Ange has taken the running and closing down of the Japanese winger out the team as well as the goals and directness of Abada.

Can Haksabanovic match that? Or does he bring something different altogether?

And that could be the masterstroke that wins this game.

The Ukrainian’s, like us, will not have been expecting this.

They will have prepared for this game looking to deal with the goal threat of Abada or the running power of Maeda.

Haksabanovic is clearly a talented player. He was once heralded as a wonderkid back in his homeland of Sweden when his career was in its early stages.

I genuinely can’t wait to see what he brings to the table tonight.

Let’s just hope that this gamble, and it is a gamble, pays off and brings us the three points tonight.
