I’ve heard a lot of nonsense in my time as a Celtic supporter but this is one that takes the biscuit.

Clearly trying to push a feel-good story, former Rangers assistant Michael Beale was reminiscing about his time at Ibrox when he made this claim about James Tavernier.

Speaking on The Currie Club podcast, Beale said of Tavernier, “He was the player in the time we were there, and I’m sure he won’t mind me sharing because we spoke about as individuals, he was the one that the staff were probably the most harsh on in the time that we were there.

“Because we felt he was capable of so much more.

“The boy that we arrived, we felt that he was the only player that would have gotten into Celtic’s team.

“We felt we had other good players but we felt he could have played for them.”

At the time, we had Mikael Lustig doing the business for us at right back and doing a bloody good job as well.

There is no way he would have gotten into the team ahead of our Swedish madman when Rodgers was gaffer.

Tavernier would have been a backup, at a push.

Put it this way, if he is as good as the media make him out to be, why is he still at Ibrox?

I rest my case.

Who are Celtic’s most capped players from these countries?
