It’s a name that has fleeting interest from the press and been mentioned on more than one occasion.  I myself had written an article on this English Premier League manager on an occasion when Talksport presenter and ex footballer, Darren Bent, mentioned it on the Drive Time show.

Now ex Celtic striker, Chris Sutton, seems to be throwing his weight behind current Burnley boss, Shaun Dyche, to become the next Celtic gaffer as Sutton describes Dyche as an “interesting one” that deserves to be given an “opportunity” at a big club.

Sutton, speaking to the Record Celtic Podcast, reckons that Dyche could possibly have had enough of Burnley and given the right tools at Celtic, he could be a success, “A couple of names have been bandied about like Shaun Dyche. I do think that Shawn Dyche really deserves to be given an opportunity. And I’m not saying Burnley is not a big club, but at a bigger club than Burnley, and it’s whether he’s had enough of the Burnley project. I think he’s a really interesting one because he gets tarred with this brush that Burnley are just a’ lump it’ team.

Would you take Shaun Dyche as Celtic manager?

YES

NO

“But he has worked wonders at Burnley on a small small budget this kept them (in the EPL). I know they went down when he first went in, but he got the bounce back, got them back up and he built and structured the club, who are now regulars in the Premier League. I think that’s an amazing achievement.

“And the fact that he’s organised the team so well. He needs eventually to be given an opportunity at a bigger club. And, you know, he’s not a dafty. He’ll understand about brands of football and whatever but give him the correct tools, then I’m sure he would do really well at Celtic.”
